May Musical Preperations

Well, March certainly blew in like a lion, but don’t think the students at Roger Williams, whose production of Lion King Jr. goes up next month, are waiting to be kings and queens. Young artists at all three of our Turnaround Arts: Providence schools are hard at work preparing for their musicals. These performances are free and open to the public, but free will donations will be accepted to support theatre arts programs in Turnaround Arts: Providence schools.
Lion King Jr. shows at Roger Williams Middle School, 278 Thurbers Avenue, on Friday, April 6th and Saturday, April 7th at 7:00 PM
Aladdin Jr. will be presented at DelSesto Middle School, 152 Springfield Street, Providence, on Thursday, May 17th and Friday, May 18th (times TBD). Want a sneak peak? Check out the behind-the-scenes rehearsal video at the top of the page.
Gilbert Stuart Middle School is producing Into the Woods Jr. at 188 Princeton Avenue, Providence, on Thursday May 31st and Friday June 1st (times TBD).
Stay tuned for more information about showtimes for May musicals.
In other news, Turnaround Arts: Providence is going to unveil our local program banner at the Turnaround Arts: National Talent Show being held at the Kennedy Center’s Eisenhower Theater on Sunday, March 11th. Our program staff are also representing in DC at the Americans for the Arts – Arts Advocacy Day on March 12th – 13th. Finally, we are hosting Visual Thinking Strategies for their second professional development on March 22nd & 23rd at Roger Williams Middle School and DelSesto Middle School.
See you next month!
