Introducing The Providence Commemorative Works Inventory Report
In addition to siting nine new temporary commemorative works throughout the summer of 2025, the Providence Commemoration Lab engaged two scholars, Renée Ater, Ph.D. and Eric Sung to conduct the most thorough survey to date of Providence’s commemorative landscape. The resulting 2025 Inventory tells a wide story of Providence’s public memory.
We’ve linked to it on our website under the Commemorative Works tab, and hope you find it useful in considering who, where, and why we’ve built monuments to, with and for as we grapple with the future of our commemorative landscape.
You can read the report here:

Thank you to Renée and Eric for this diligent effort.
