Block Parties & Galas In PVD

June 2, 2018 | 12pm – 6pm | Hope Street (Between Rochambeau and Fourth Streets)

This fun, ­festive, family-friendly, event is hosted by the Hope Street Merchants Association and their generous community sponsors, in celebration of their wonderful neighborhood. The event features two live music stages, with one geared towards children. There will be myriad activities, including a climbing wall, face painters, Y on the Move obstacle course, Chinese Lion performance, drum circles, and new this year Live Prov Wrestling. There will be a curated art and craft market, and after you work up an appetite there will be food trucks, as well as beer, cocktails, and outdoor dining!

Festival Ballet Providence and the Hope Street Merchants Association are looking for volunteers for their Hope Street Spring Block Party Beer Garden. THE MANTON AVENUE PROJECT: “OUT OF THIS WORLD” GALA EVENT

June 4, 2018 | 6pm – 9pm | Pell Chafee Performance Center

“Out of this World” will include dazzlingly delicious eats and cocktails, interactive booths with astral activities, silent auction of galactic treasures, and excerpts from the latest Manton Avenue Project (MAP) musical, written by fifth-graders and performed by local stars, all to benefit MAP’s programs serving young people in Olneyville. This year’s gala will honor two stellar MAP supporters, Rande Diantuono and Buck Asprinio of Dark Lady/Alley Cat fame.

Special guests Big Nazo, Verdant Vibes, and more! Don’t miss out! It’s gonna be a blast! Get it?

STAGES OF FREEDOM: SISSIERETTA JONES AT 150

June 7 – 9, 2018 | Downtown Providence

2018 marks the 150th Anniversary of Sissiretta Jones. As America’s first Black opera superstar and a resident of Providence, Jones left an indelible mark on our city, the nation, and the world that is only now being recognized and appreciated. Stages of Freedom is producing events for her three day national celebration.
